Suspect Nabbed In Stratford Shooting

A 39-year-old local man wanted in connection with a shooting in the area has been arrested.

David Williams of Stratford was arrested Sunday, March 10, by Prince William County Police Department in Virginia, in connection with a shooting that occurred on Success Avenue in Stratford on Thursday, March 7, said Stratford Police Capt. Frank Eannotti. 

After a standoff which lasted for several hours, Williams was taken into custody. Williams was arrested by warrant and will subsequently be held without bail pending extradition, Eannotti said.

The incident took place around 8:45 p.m. Thursday when a man was shot twice in the torso and was taken to Bridgeport Hospital, where he is in critical condition. 

Williams will be formally charged with criminal attempt to commit murder, assault, criminal possession of ammunition, weapons in a motor vehicle, reckless endangerment, unlawful discharge of a firearm, and criminal possession of a firearm.

The investigation is ongoing at this time. Investigators are asking anyone with further information to contact the Stratford Police Detective Bureau at 203-385-4120.
